Description:
Splendid and unique Renaissance period tabletop in extremely rare sea cipolin marble with a pair of Carrara marble bases finely sculpted with cartouches and tips, inlays in Broccatello and Verde Antico from the Louis XIV period. Sea cipolin marble, or carystium marble, originates mainly in Greece. The name "cipollino" derives from its characteristic wavy streaks, which resemble the leaves of an onion. This marble was introduced to Rome and widely used for columns, cladding and sculptures.
