The furniture is certainly to be attributed to the hand of the cabinetmaker Giuseppe Preti.
For stylistic comparisons, see the Sacristy of Fabbrico, the Sacristy of the Old Canons in the Cathedral of Reggio Emilia (La Fabbriceria preserves the payments to Preti from 1751), The Choir of the Church of the Augustinian Fathers of Mirandola, built by Preti in 1763.
Another piece of Sacristy furniture with a similar layout is kept in the Church of the SS. Crucifix in Carpi.
Ours is the only example of a trumeau produced by Preti known to date on the market and in private collections.
