SOLID WALNUT CHEST OF DRAWERS - PIEDMONT - CHARLES X  Translated
Description:
Charles X Walnut Chest of Drawers with Inlays and Gilt Bronzes - Early 1800s This magnificent chest of drawers, dating back to the era of Charles X (early decades of the 19th century), represents a superb example of the elegance and refined cabinetmaking of the period. Made of walnut wood, it has a solid structure and harmonious proportions that make it a piece of furniture with great visual and functional impact. Technical and Constructive Features: Material: Solid walnut wood with a splendid visible grain, enhanced by a shellac polishing that gives it depth and shine. Structure: Wavy body with a slightly splayed front, typical of the style, that tapers downwards. The sides are smooth and consistent with the front finish. Top: The upper part consists of a suitably thick walnut top with a shaped edge that follows the curvature of the cabinet body. Drawers: The cabinet has three large front drawers, all working and sliding, the first (upper) of which is slightly lower and finished with an elegant volute inlay that runs horizontally. Inlays: A distinctive element of great value are the floral inlays in light boxwood that adorn the front of all three drawers. In particular, the keyholes are framed by stylized shield-shaped inlays. These inlays are masterfully executed, highlighting the attention to detail. Hardware: The hardware is entirely original and of high quality. The gilded bronze "ring" handles, with a classic and refined design, are fixed on bell-shaped rosettes, also in gilt bronze. The keyholes, also in bronze, integrate perfectly with the inlays. The gilding has an authentic patina, a testament to the age of the cabinet. Feet: The chest of drawers rests at the front on inverted corbel feet, sculpted and enriched with gold leaf profiles that give the cabinet a touch of opulence. Condition: Excellent general condition, restored with a shellac finish.
