LOUIS THÉOPHILE HINGRE jewelry box - L. OUDRY PUBLISHER - 19th century.
Splendid oval-shaped jewelry box, in chiseled silver-plated metal and gilded bronze, decorated with La Fontaine's fables with reserves.
The fable "Le Corbeau voulant imiter l'aigle" is depicted on the lid (engraving on the cartouche at the bottom of the reserve).
Resting on four small legs.
The interior is lined in blue fabric, original from the period, unfortunately it is worn in several places.
The signature T. HINGRE is engraved in the front reserve, at the bottom right.
Louis Théophile Hingre was a French painter, sculptor, engraver, illustrator and poster artist.
He was born in 1832 in Écouen, where he also died in 1911.
His specialty was animal sculptures.
The boîte is in perfect condition.
