Description:
Antique Russian icon (17.5 cm; h. 22) made between the late 1800s and the early 1900s: it depicts Saint Nicholas, born in Patara of Lycia around 270 AD. With his left hand he holds a bible and with the other he blesses: hand-painted on a wooden table with a silver and gold-plated metal oklad, embossed and chiseled. Saint Nicholas, a man of charity, is considered not only the protector of the people, but also the saint closest to the faithful, distinguished by his generosity towards the poor and needy. It is in excellent condition.
