Description:
(QF674) The Antique Flower Paintings category of the 19th century proposes a large and beautiful oil painting on canvas, a floral still life from the late nineteenth or early twentieth century. Art Nouveau, Art Deco. This is a pleasant still life, which represents a bouquet of pink irises and gerberas of various colors in a vase. ceramic decorated with a statuette and an embroidered white tablecloth next to it. The painting on canvas is signed lower left J. Stappers, a Belgian painter of still lifes and flower paintings. Stappers Julien (1875-1960) is a Belgian painter who mainly painted flowers and still lifes with remarkable results. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and then exhibited his works in Brussels. It should be noted that the oil painting has a carved and lacquered wooden frame contemporary to the painting. The oil painting and the frame have been carefully and professionally restored.
