Folding screen in bamboo and rattan, 1950s

Decorative four-panel screen made of bamboo and rattan, datable to around the 1950s. The distinctive element is the ornamental design obtained with weaves and spiral curvatures of the rattan, a typical technique of mid-twentieth century tropical craftsmanship. The screen consists of four hinged panels, each approximately 44.5 cm wide, for a total width of approximately 190 cm. The height is 173 cm. Once closed, it occupies a thickness of approximately 13 cm. One side has a decoration with volutes and heart motifs, made of curved rattan inside a natural bamboo structure. The other side is covered in a light, smooth fabric, which functions as a shielding surface. Conditions: in good general state of conservation. There are two malfunctioning hinges, one of which probably needs to be replaced. However, the screen is stable and can be closed. Ideal decorative object for environments with an exotic, natural or vintage taste. Perfect as a partition, scenic backdrop or furnishing accessory. Shipping available.
