The pair of vases, made of patinated bronze, is decorated on the sides with Empire-style masks; an ornamental band, depicting vine leaves and grapes, crosses its center. The base of the handles features two satyr heads: both they and the vine plant are probably a reference to Bacchus, god of drunkenness and wine. The base is sculpted from red French marble.
