Center desk veneered in walnut wood.
Material: The furniture is veneered in walnut wood, with a rich and warm grain that enhances its natural beauty. It is enriched with lighter wood threads, the boxwood, and green-tinted pear wood, which create decorative patterns.
Structure and Shape: It has an elongated rectangular shape, typical of desks. The upper part has a bird's beak top, also inlaid. Under the top, the desk has a series of drawers and a pull-out shelf.
Drawers: On the front, there are five drawers:
A larger central drawer.
Two rows of smaller drawers on the sides, two on each side, which offer additional space for storing documents and objects.
The drawers are equipped with flush brass vents.
Decorations and Inlays: The most distinctive feature of this desk are the geometric inlays that adorn both the top and the front of the drawers, and in particular the sides of the furniture. These inlays create a chromatic contrast with the darker walnut wood, adding a touch of elegance and craftsmanship. On the sides, there are inlaid panels with stylized and curvilinear motifs.
Legs: The desk rests on four tapered legs.
The legs are also decorated with linear or drop inlays that underline their slender shape. The upper part of the legs has a narrowing that elegantly joins the structure of the furniture.
Style: The overall style suggests an influence from the Louis XVI period, but with the addition of decorative elements typical of the late nineteenth century, which often reinterpreted previous styles with an emphasis on the richness of materials and inlays. The sinuous shape of the lower apron between the legs adds a touch of delicacy.
Emilian area of the late 19th century.
