Luigi Mantovani was one of the protagonists of 20th-century Milanese painting. A student at the Brera Academy from 1896, he studied with Giuseppe Mentessi, Vespasiano Bignami, and Cesare Tallone, who particularly influenced him along with Carcano. He was able to develop a personal language, suspended between Impressionism and Divisionism. He participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, including the Venice Biennials and the Rome Quadrennials. His painting is distinguished by the intimacy of the subjects, the diffuse light, and a lyrical and contemplative vision of reality.
