Tyrolean chest of drawers dated 1840  Translated
Description:
Tyrolean chest of drawers dated 1840 Wood: Spruce Era: 1840 Origin: Tyrol Dimensions: Height – 91 cm Width – 144 cm Depth – 65 cm Description: Antique Tyrolean chest of drawers, dated 1840, made of solid spruce, a wood particularly appreciated in the Alpine areas for its lightness and ease of processing. The structure is solid and compact, resting on slightly shaped bracket feet. The piece of furniture is characterized by three large front drawers, each enriched by original pictorial decorations: delicate bunches of flowers and plant compositions with natural tones, now slightly patinated by time, but still vivid. The drawer frames, made with a particular technique of faux painted inlaid herringbone, give movement to the surface and enhance the front of the furniture. The upper part has two panels, also decorated with floral motifs, framed by a painted thread in light red. In the center there is also the name of the client and the date of construction. The handles are in chiseled metal, circular in shape with central knob vents, embossed and coeval with the furniture. Each drawer has a pair of side handles and a central element, underlining the rigorous symmetry typical of early nineteenth-century Tyrolean furnishings. The surface of the chest of drawers shows a pleasant patina, with signs of use that add charm to its aesthetics. The general conditions are excellent. Two small secret drawers inside.
