Louis XVI demilune commode veneered in rosewood, palisander and various woods, Piedmont, last quarter of the 18th century
Description:
Elegant Louis XVI style demilune commode, made in Piedmont in the last quarter of the eighteenth century. The piece of furniture, of rare refinement, has a semi-circular structure with a tripartite front: an upper drawer, a central door concealing two internal drawers and two side doors, perfectly integrated into the curvilinear design of the furniture.
Veneered in rosewood, palisander and exotic woods, skillfully arranged in geometric and herringbone patterns, with precious wood threads highlighting the refined inlay. The top is in shaped marble, probably Carrara marble, perfectly adhering to the half-moon shape of the furniture. Decorated with refined gilded and chiseled bronzes: handles, vents and decorative rosettes in neoclassical style, made with great attention to detail. The truncated pyramidal fluted feet end with bronze tips, giving balance and momentum to the structure.
