Venetian Lacquered Mirror  Translated
Description:
Venetian Lacquered Mirror Wood Type: Lacquered Fir Period: Mid-19th Century Origin: Venice Dimensions: Height - 63 cm Width - 42 cm Depth - 6 cm Description: Elegant Venetian mirror, dating back to the mid-nineteenth century, an example of lagoon production still deeply inspired by the Rococo splendor of the previous century. Made of carved and lacquered wood, with floral decorations. The frame, shaped according to a moving and asymmetrical profile, features a succession of volutes, curls and phytomorphic motifs that run along the entire perimeter, creating an effect of movement and lightness typical of the eighteenth-century taste, still fully appreciated in nineteenth-century Venice. The ocher yellow lacquering, now patinated and partially worn, reveals warm undertones that harmonize with the hand-painted floral decorations. Of particular importance is the upper cymatium, decorated with a dense relief composition with floral and foliage elements, culminating in a painted central motif: a small bucolic scene, rendered in delicate tones. This pictorial detail is not rare in contemporary Venetian mirrors, often conceived also as an autonomous decorative support beyond the reflecting function. The mirror is original and has several points of oxidation.  Translated
