Sa hammisa from Oliena, rare shirt from the Sardinian female costume of Oliena
Description:
Description: Rare and splendid shirt from the Oliena costume, called sa hammisa, sa camija, or sa amisa, made in the early 1900s in white canvas, but it is immersed in a dye that gives it the typical light blue color. Finely embroidered on the chest and cuffs, with very wide sleeves that protrude from the jacket forming sos buffantes, it is complete with its bib (photo n° 10) called su pettus, a rectangle of the same fabric as the shirt embroidered with the same method de sos vrunimentos, used to cover the closure of the shirt. Su teningiu is made in the collar and cuffs and su horo above it, which is highlighted by a red thread (photos n° 2 and 8). The shirt is the only garment of the Oliena costume that does not change color even during mourning, remaining constantly white while the other garments take on different colors. The finishing continues with sos vrunimentos embroidered in satin stitch and various openwork stitches closed by sos ventaglios, lace made with a needle with very thin thread. The antique shirt is in a good state of conservation: Click here to see the website of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia where you will find the history of the Oliena costume.
