Description:
Pair of lacquered and gilded wooden cabinets, Venice, Rococo period, mid-18th century Dimensions: cm W 72.5 x D 46 x H 82; Top cm W 60 (front W 45 cm) x D 36.5 Price: private negotiation Object accompanied by a certificate of authenticity This elegant pair of cabinets was made in Venice around the mid-18th century, during the Rococo period. The wooden structure is entirely lacquered in shades of light blue with gilded reserves and frames. The cabinets feature a wooden top lacquered in imitation floral alabaster marble, with a mixtilinear and curved shape and bordered by a carved and gilded frame. On the front, they are equipped with a drawer with a gilded wooden grip carved in the shape of a shell. Below, a door, which closes a large compartment, opens via a bronze handle with lock. The interior is entirely lacquered in light blue. The cabinets have a particularly curved structure, characteristic of Venetian Rococo furniture, which designs curved sides, and is enhanced by the presence of projecting frames, on the front and sides, in gilded wood. The four cabriole legs are short and curved, and give further movement to the whole. Very refined and decorative, they can be used as cabinets, thanks to the capacity of the internal compartments, but also as bedside tables in a bedroom. Suitable in antique furnishing contexts, they can also be placed alongside modern furnishings. In good condition
