"Madonna and Child" by Francesco di Simone da Santacroce (Santacroce 1470-75 - Venice 1508). After moving to Venice with his family, he began working in Giovanni Bellini's workshop, before opening his own. The workshop, known as the Santacroce painters, had a flourishing activity that lasted until the 17th century. Jacopo Palma the Elder, Andrea Previtali and Francesco Galizzi, known as Rizzo, who inherited the workshop after the master's death, took their first steps here. His early works were greatly influenced by Andrea Mantegna, and then continued in the manner of Giovanni Bellini, his teacher, in particular in the use of his typical colorful Venetian palette. His works can be found at the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, the Diocesan Museum of Padua, San Pellegrino Terme, etc. The painting is accompanied by expert appraisal of Professor Alessandro Nesi.
