Brawl between peasants  Translated
Description:
Unpublished painting depicting "Brawl between peasants" by Eberhard Keilhau known as Monsu' Bernardo (Helsingor 1624-Rome 1687). The painting, depicting the joy of taste and touch, was executed by Eberhard Keilhau, known in Italy as Monsu' Bernardo, the most famous painter of antiquity in Denmark. At eighteen, he arrived in the Low Countries and worked for two years in Rembrandt's workshop. In addition to altarpieces, his early works, he was one of the most original genre painters and massively influenced the art of genre painters such as Salvator Rosa, Antonio Amorosi and other representatives of 17th and 18th century Italian painting, with visionary and popular subjects. After a period in Venice and Bergamo, in 1656, he arrived in Rome where he painted his most characteristic works, also influenced by Caravaggism and the school of the Bamboccianti. The work is accompanied by expertise from Professor Maria Pia Mannini. The painting is set within a splendid contemporary gilded frame. Canvas measurements 89.5x113 with frame 108x131  Translated
