Oil on canvas. In a Nordic-type landscape, with mountain ranges in the background and green hills, a small herd of cows is placed in the foreground, watched over by a shepherdess who, sitting resting on the side of the road, points to the small castle, the probable destination of their journey, to the dog at her side. The painting, relined, has small but widespread color losses and scratches. It is presented in an early 20th century frame.
