Measurements: length 34 cm, height 28 cm, depth 12 cm.
Signed "Charles Le Roy à Paris" on the dial.
Refined gilded and burnished bronze table clock depicting a Dionysian worship scene. Two satyrs, an adult and a child, are busy collecting grapes from the vine that wraps around the sides of the dial. At the feet of the little satyr lies an empty and overturned jar of wine. The dial is signed "Charles Le Roy à Paris", workshop of the homonymous Parisian watchmaker (1709-1771), whose activity will be continued by his son Etienne-Augustin Le Roy; the latter will subsequently assume the prestigious position of Watchmaker to the King.
