Wonderful painted wardrobe from the second half of the 18th century, with a marbleized background, painted in polychromy with geometric and floral motifs. WOOD: Polychrome painted fir wood, with soft, warm colors. CONDITION: Object in excellent condition, practically intact in both painting and hardware. OBSERVATIONS: The warm chromatic shades, the craquelure, the splendid proportions, the condition, the marbleized background make it a wonderful example of this rare type of furniture. Intact painted furniture, considering their delicacy, are now mostly preserved in museums and prestigious private collections. Based on the tones and motifs of the painting, it is possible to determine the exact region of origin of these artifacts, widespread at the time throughout Central-Eastern Europe. Specifically, this wardrobe is attributable to the Giant Mountains region (Riesengebirge - Sudeten between Germany and the Bohemian quadrilateral).
