This refined work table was made during the Charles X period, within the first half of the 19th century, in the Tuscany region.
Veneered in elm wood, it features a writing surface with a stamped leather lining bordered around the perimeter. On the front, it has a drawer with a brass lock and a key with a gilded bronze palmette. Along all four sides, the table is veneered and decorated with fine circular pattern inlays. The lyre-shaped supports in carved and gilded wood, with acanthus leaf carvings and other phytomorphic and geometric motifs, are very elegant. The lyre is composed internally of gilded wooden rods. The two supports are connected by a crossbar with feral spheres in gilded wood.
The table, being well-finished on all four sides, can also be placed in the center of rooms, in studies, living rooms, bedrooms. Very decorative and bright, it can be easily combined with antique and modern furnishings.
It requires some minor restoration work.
