Vienna, 18th century, probably first half. Rare cabinet from a high Viennese noble family veneered in blond walnut feather and finely inlaid with Baroque motifs in thuja, ebony, maple burl, and walnut burl wood. The work retains an extraordinary warm original patina and is in practically intact condition. In the lower part of the piece of furniture, there is a pull-out top that was used as a support and/or for the exhibition of the precious objects or money kept in the cabinet. In the structure of the furniture there is a secret mechanism for closing the side drawers. Original inscriptions and stamps inside the furniture lead back to an ancient castle located approximately 60 km from Vienna at the time inhabited by a high Viennese noble family. It is a work of high and refined cabinetmaking. It measures cm. 39.5 in height, cm. 82 in width, cm. 33.5 closed, 61 with the extended support surface. Cabinets are rare and precious pieces of furniture that at the time were commissioned and used by high nobility families as chests for precious objects, documents, and money. In accordance with the provisions of the New Code of Cultural Heritage, the selling company provides, together with the sale, a detailed written photographic guarantee of the originality and provenance of the works sold. The data with which the works are described and then contained in the written guarantees are expressed determinations resulting from careful and documented technical/historical/artistic investigations, even of expert importance.
