Pair of Venetian glass sconces from the 1900s
Description:
This pair of Venetian mirror sconces, dating back to the early twentieth century, is made of hand-worked glass, typical of the Murano tradition. The mirrors feature a shaped form with frames decorated with three-dimensional floral motifs in transparent glass, worked in a torchon style. The central part consists of mirrors engraved with stylized figures: one depicts a gentleman with a hat and cane, while the other depicts a lady in an elegant dress. Both figures are placed on decorative engraved pedestals. The surface of the mirrors is embellished by an internal frame with engraved leaf motifs. Each mirror includes two light-holder arms, also in worked glass, which extend outwards. These arms terminate in carefully modeled candle-holder cups, also in transparent glass. The sconces retain their original charm, with an appearance that recalls period lighting. It is a fine example of Venetian craftsmanship, combining functionality and decorativeness, perfect for enriching classic or historically inspired environments.
