Two carved and lacquered wooden armchairs, France, mid-18th century, Louis XV period
Description:
Two carved and lacquered wooden armchairs, France, mid-18th century, Louis XV period. Measurements: cm H 97.5 x W 62 x D 62 Price: confidential negotiation Item accompanied by a certificate of authenticity This pair of armchairs was made in France in the 18th century, during the Louis XV period. The wooden structure, carved with reserves, curls and raised floral decorations, is lacquered in shades of ivory and grey. The backrest, upholstered in fabric, is slightly wavy and curvilinear. The armrests, with fabric-covered padding in the center to create a comfortable support, are connected to the seat, also lined in fabric, with arched elements. The four legs, wavy and curvilinear, are carved and lacquered in two colors. The fabric used, with a naturalistic decoration, is modern and in good condition. It is also possible to expand the number of seats by adding four armchairs and/or a three-seater sofa, also made in France in the 18th century, Louis XV period, and upholstered with the same fabric. The structure and carvings of these seats and the sofa are very similar: they are lacquered in two colors in shades of ivory and light blue, with reserves, frames and raised floral leaf elements. The armchairs are very refined and elegant, of great decoration for a living room or an entrance hall, and can be placed both as a pair or individually in different environments. The light color of the lacquers used and the type of fabric with which they are presented give these seats a lot of light, making them suitable next to antique or modern furnishings.
