Description:
High Friuli, full 17th century. Carnic Tolmezzina school. Important flap chest of drawers in practically intact condition. Magnificent 17th-century furniture with the patina of noble sobriety typical of high-period furniture from high Friuli. In solid walnut and walnut burl, with refined geometric inlays on the front that create pleasing color contrasts. Masterfully shaped and carved bands, typical of the provenance. Noteworthy is the chamfered orientation and the refined workmanship of the internal drawers sculpted with symmetrical rectangles. The checkered strips under the top are an almost indispensable complement to these chests. Elegant and regular proportions. The furniture is in practically intact condition with a warm original patina. There are traces of a previous limited restoration of a conservative and consolidative type well executed (mid-20th century?) with sanitization and well-executed closures of woodworm holes. Original internal bronze and external wooden knobs; original internal locks lost with closure of the relative housings executed in a workmanlike manner. Internal hinges of the flap of the front original, external visible on the top lost with screw holes closed and concealed in a workmanlike manner. Internal book hinges of the reversible top integrated in place of the original external ones. All the wooden part is practically intact. It measures cm. 131 wide, 108 high and cm. 55 - 66 open / closed. Literature: Tito Miotti, Nobiltà del nobile friulano, Del Bianco editor.
