The ladder, made in the 18th century in Piedmont, is crafted from sculpted solid walnut. The distinctive decorative motif is referred to as Spool turned, derived from the shape of wooden bobbins known as spools. This type of wood carving adds movement to the composition, making the ladder markedly decorative. Composed of four steps, it is suitable for placement alongside bookcases in studies and living rooms to facilitate access to higher shelves. It can also be used as a decorative element, upon which to place, for example, cachepots and vases with plants.
