Pair of Still Lifes by Angelo Maria Rossi, 17th Century  Translated
Description:
Pair of oil on canvas paintings, measuring 54 x 44 cm without frame and 65 x 55 cm with a coeval frame, depicting still lifes with asparagus, pomegranates, quinces, figs, and medlars by the painter Angelo Maria Rossi, also known as Pseudo Fardella or painter of Carlo Torre (active in Milan in the second half of the 17th century). The artistic events of this formidable still life artist active in Milan in the second half of the 17th century developed thanks to Luigi Salerno, who managed to discover this very talented painter in a moment of historical-artistic obscurity. It is evident that the high quality of his art significantly influenced the still life production of his time and later, by virtue of the refined twilight settings, the luminosity that ignites accentuating the chromaticism with deep tones, which seem to compete with the well-known Caravaggesque examples. We can affirm that the main characteristics of our painter concern the ability to accentuate the luminosity of the represented objects, sometimes able to reach truly garish reds, yellows and greens in the illustration of peaches, apples, quinces, pears and medlars, as is easily evident also in these two beautiful and fresh canvases where the fruits, placed on two ledges of rock, stand out thunderously from the dark background. The paintings and art objects published here are my exclusive property and consequently are always available to be viewed in person, by appointment, at my exhibition locations located in Sanremo and Brescia. The work, like every our object, is sold accompanied by a FIMA photographic certificate of authenticity and lawful origin; this document identifies the object bringing added value to the article. We personally handle and organize the packaging and shipping of works of art with insurance throughout the world. Dr. Riccardo Moneghini Art Historian  Translated
