Beautiful oil on canvas painting dating back to the Piedmontese School of the early 18th century. The work depicts the Madonna with the Child Jesus in her arms and beside them is the child Saint John. On the banner of the Virgin's dress is written "Ecce Agnus Dei", which means "Behold the Lamb of God". A particularly notable aspect of this painting is the great realism and attention to pictorial details. The faces of the characters are rendered in a delicate and tactile manner, with serene and sweet expressions. The folds of the fabrics are painted extremely accurately, giving a sense of depth and three-dimensionality to the work. The painting is in an excellent state of preservation. The work is set in an antique frame, made of carved and painted Swiss pine wood.
