Lombard school, mid-18th century Pair of Angels Gilded and painted wood, cm height 112 x 92 Base: cm 28 x 30 x 29 The pair of angels made of painted and gilded wood is an example of Lombard manufacturing of the 18th century. The two figures are presented kneeling on a high, meticulously carved and gilded base. The two angels are similar in features, but have some variations, for example in clothing: both are indeed wrapped in a golden robe that falls in swollen drapery, but on one the drape covers one shoulder and the entire bust, while in the other it surrounds the body from under the chest. The poses are also different, one with hands clasped, the other with one hand on his chest while the other extends it forward. Their wings, also gilded, are in one case unfolded, in the other "at rest" and are distinguished by the high quality of the carving that minutely describes them in their rich plumage. The object is in good condition.
