Rare Agra carpet (North India) from the second half of the nineteenth century
Description:
Rare Agra carpet (North India) from the second half of the nineteenth century, in excellent condition, with splendid warm vegetable color and particularly fine knotting. Very rare are the ancient Agra carpets of small dimensions. North India, 19th century, second half. It measures cm. 126 x 184. In excellent condition, including pile, without significant restorations. (Agra is a city in northern India on the banks of the Yamuna River, a historical center for the production of the finest Indian carpets. It is a meeting place between the Hindu and Muslim religions. In this rare piece, the decoration with the typical vine motifs is linked to the local specificities. The typical Agra colors such as golden yellow, pink, ocher, beige as well as the classic red-bordeaux contrast harmoniously with the white that has become ivory due to the oxidation typical of the oldest carpets). In accordance with the provisions of the New Code of Cultural Heritage, the selling company provides simultaneously with the sale a detailed photographic written guarantee of originality and provenance of the sold works. The data with which the works are described and then contained in the written guarantees are express determinations resulting from accurate, in-depth and documented technical/historical/artistic investigations.
