Giovanni Maria Bonzanigo (1745-1820) “Relief Portrait of the “Allegory of Mathematics” 1799-1808

Superb relief, depicting the Allegory of Mathematics in different woods such as ebony, boxwood, fruit wood, walnut, inserted in a rich wooden frame with micro-sculptures and microspheres, elements that can be traced back to the Bonzanigo production of the Napoleonic era, given the phytomorphic ornaments and the daisies at the corners, analogous to other works by Bonzanigo from the first decade of the 19th century (e.g., see the work "Madonna della Seggiola" of 1808). The sculptural plasticity of the mythological female figure rises from a base in a solemn position and, in addition to the perfect execution, you can see the details that give life, movement and grace to the drapery of the fabric of the dress and the well-defined braids that fall softly on her bust. Every other detail of the relief is underlined by the firmness of the feet and hands that, firmly, hold the globe and the compass. Northern Italy 1799-1808 Excellent condition.
