Description:
Germany or perhaps Vienna 1795 - 1810; circle of influence of David Roetgen. Very rare and admirable mechanical-transformable gaming table. Also as a writing desk or console table. Masterpiece of high-quality cabinetmaking, of absolute integrity, expertly veneered in mahogany feathering, interior in satinwood with sliding top that still retains its original leather. Finished with shellac applied with a pad using museum-standard technique. A brilliant mobile mechanism allows the extraction of the front, "revealing" the secret compartment with drawers and sliding top. The top opens like a book and is veneered in mahogany burl even on the underside. Decorative details and brass inserts, as also used in David Roetgen's furniture. Shellac polished with a pad with a museum-standard finish on the original patina and absolute integrity. Measures cm. 94 wide, 46.5 deep when closed (93 the top open like a book), 81 high. Refined, elegant and sober period furniture with a warm patina, perfect for combining with high-end modern furniture in an ensemble of great elegance and prestige. In compliance with the provisions of the New Code of Cultural Heritage, the selling company provides a detailed photographic written guarantee of originality and provenance of the works sold at the time of sale. The data with which the works are described and then contained in the written guarantees are express determinations resulting from accurate, in-depth and documented technical/historical/artistic investigations.
