Vienna (1820 – 1830) Table clock Ebonized wood and gilded bronze, cm 31 x 20 x 12 Table clock in ebonized wood with gilded bronze applications, of architectural form with a serpentine handle that departs from the top. It has a centennial case with a metal sheet dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, as well as a double winding hole. At the corners it is framed by vegetal friezes in gilded bronze, a symbol of the renewed naturalism that involves the Viennese manufacture at the beginning of the 19th century. The manufacture of clocks met with enormous success in Austria between 1820 - 1830: with the crisis that occurred after the fall of Napoleon, some far-sighted statesmen decided to look to other countries to grasp their technical innovations, in fact finding in the production of Swiss watches a new artistic product in which the population could engage to make a profit. The object is in good condition
