19th century, seascape  Translated
Description:
19th century Seascape Oil on canvas, 74.5 x 100.5 cm Framed 100 x 126 cm The arrival of the storm is announced in the left part of the canvas by the presence of rain-laden clouds on the horizon. The waves, which break against the coasts formed by high cliffs and cause the white seagulls that were perched there to take flight, communicate the sense of nature's restlessness and the imminent storm surge. In the center of the painting is a boat depicted with careful detail, while on the horizon the arrival of other sailing ships is partially concealed by the haze. On the boat, figures of sailors intent on managing the ship lapped by the waves can be recognized. The entire scene is dominated by the high cliffs and the force of nature, while a maritime village can be seen at their foothills. The sea has been created using a wide range of colors based on shades of blue and green; rapid brushstrokes rich in white color delineate the foam and the rippled surface of the waves. The landscape is largely occupied by the sky, which is dark and stormy in the lateral parts, while it is still clear and bright in the central part. The romantic approach of the seascape is evident: the force of the sea, the succession of wave motion and the leaden sky refer to the vision of a turbulent nature endowed with an unchallengeable force. The object is in good condition.  Translated
