The artist is best known for his lively and bustling street scenes of Milan, as well as landscapes of the Lombard countryside. Also involved in the creation of portraits, especially of opera singers in their performances at La Scala, he is skilled in both the use of oil and pastel and watercolor.
Giuseppe Solenghi exhibited in his Milan and Genoa, participating in the exhibitions of the Promotrici, those of Brera and the Artistic Family.
The views of Milan, often depicted during the winter under the snow, but also lively scenes of sketch-like nature have made him famous. He died in Cernobbio, where he had retired in recent years, in 1944.
Several of his works are preserved at the Ricci Oddi Gallery in Piacenza and at the Modern Art Gallery in Milan. A retrospective was organized three years after his death in the Boito Gallery in Milan.
