Description:
Antique and important large English table (for 16 people comfortably), dating back to the early Victorian era. Made of solid mahogany and patented by Samuel Hawkins: the oval top with a shaped edge with an inverted throat, is supported by 6 turned and beaded legs, shod with original brass cup castors. The 6 legs are necessary due to the great extension that takes place through the use of a fantastic telescopic mechanism that is activated by a crank. Inside it can contain 5 extension boards (4 of cm.61 and 1 of cm.45 for a total of m.2.90): for the moment it is equipped with four original solid mahogany extension boards (3 measure cm.61, the fourth cm.45 for a total of m.2.28) so you can take advantage of an additional extension board of cm.61 which will be made during restoration. The measurement of the closed table is m:1.50x1.40 while, with the insertion of the 5 boards (which measure m.2.90) and the addition of the measurement of the table (m.1.50), you get to m.4.40x1.40. The antique Victorian table is structurally in excellent condition: however, it needs a complete restoration with polishing. Furthermore, being cm.74 high, it could be raised up to cm.79.
