Berlin, first half of the 19th century, c.a, likely circle of Carl Wanschaff, typical of the origin, conforming to the Empire style of the area inspired by Carl Friedrich Schinkel. Rare Empire style Jardiniere veneered in mahogany feather and end-grain mahogany on a frame in oak and fir wood, in original patina. Refined lost-wax cast bronzes. Removable brass flower-holding compartment. Original mirror. In practically intact wooden condition, restored with shellac finish by pad on original patina applied with museum standard technique. Patina and signs of use corresponding to the era. This elegant type of furniture, placed against the walls of castles and patrician residences, was used to store plants and flower vases. Dimensions cm. 53.5 deep, 91 wide, 89 high.
