Austria circa 1835, mature Biedermeier period. Bright bookcase (also suitable as a sideboard) in intact condition (including the glazed section), veneered in ash burl with walnut burl details. Maple inlays. Animal bone escutcheons. Finished with shellac applied with a pad, with a patina and signs of age consistent with its antiquity. It measures 170.5 cm in height, 107 cm in maximum width (with cornice) - 97 cm in body width. The maximum depth is 54 cm (with cornice) and 48 cm for the body alone. The furniture, in its original patina, has been manually polished with a French pad using natural shellac with a museum-standard technique on the original patina, and boasts a pleasant and warm golden light.
