Description:
Center armchair in lacquered and gilded wood, Turin, mid-18th century Measurements: cm W 74 x D 78 x H 105.5. Seat height cm 47 Price: confidential negotiation Object accompanied by a certificate of authenticity This elegant center armchair was made in the Rococo period in Turin, around the mid-18th century. The structure of the armchair is in finely carved wood, lacquered in ivory and gilded. The armchair is distinguished by a wide and very comfortable seat. It has a slightly curved backrest composed of a gilded perimeter band carved with rocaille decorations that refer to phytomorphic motifs. The internal reserve is lacquered in shades of ivory. The armrests, lined on the upper part, are connected to the seat with lacquered and gilded wooden portions, curved and decorated with volutes and foliage elements. The under-seat band has a mixtilinear and curved profile, delimited by a gilded reserve and lacquered in ivory. In the center it presents the characteristic rocaille motif composed of volutes and phytomorphic motifs. The four legs descend harmoniously with a curved and curvilinear movement, decorated with gilded rocaille carvings and ending with a gilded scroll foot. The backrest, armrests and seat have been lined with modern fabric in excellent condition. The armchair is finished on all four sides, allowing it to be placed even in the center of rooms. Its dimensions and the wide seat make it comfortable and therefore suitable for use in living rooms and studies, between sofas or in front of a fireplace. Very decorative and refined, it can be combined with both antique and modern furnishings.
