Compote dish  Translated
Description:
Twin-handled compote dish in 950 silver, with a globular body in cut crystal supported by a square base resting on animal feet. It has lateral handles in the shape of cornucopias ending in goat heads. The body features a support for 12 teaspoons. The lid is topped with a flower finial and engraved with an heraldic coat of arms with a noble Earl's crown. Period: Paris, circa 1820 Weight: Gross weight 1174 g Dimensions: 16 x 24.5 x 23 cm height The coat of arms belongs to the French family De Grolée, Earls of Groslée and Marquesses of Viriville (from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region). The oval shield (for ladies) is draped in gold and black with eight segments and a Marquis' crown in the center, surmounted by a Duke's crown, probably belonging to Countess Jeanne-Anne-Madeleine de Grolée-Viriville.  Translated
