A true little jewel of Flemish painting on copper, depicting the Virgin and Child.
The mother modestly lowers her face while supporting the Son with her long, slender fingers.
The Child turns his lively gaze towards the viewer in one of the poses favored by the great Flemish masters.
The refinement of the painting is remarkable and the Artist, thanks to the chiaroscuro of great effect and the perfectly laid glazes, manages to create the optical illusion of three-dimensionality. The complexions of the protagonists are illuminated by a strong frontal light and stand out from the dark background, increasing their volume.
The evident quality of the work is clear from the stylistic purity and perfection of the brushstroke, but in particular, it stands out for a cleanliness of images that is difficult to find in small copper paintings.
A beautiful antique gilded frame completes the work excellently.
