The coco de mer, also known as coco de mer, is a plant of the Arecaceae family, the only species of the genus Lodoicea. It grows exclusively on the islands of Praslin and Curieuse in the Seychelles. With a diameter of 50 cm and a weight of 15–22 kg, its fruits contain the largest seed in the plant kingdom. These seeds are now protected, and export outside the islands is no longer permitted.
