Giovanni Omiccioli devoted himself to painting from 1934, beginning to collaborate with Mafai. In the 1940s he painted the "Orti" series. After the war he created the first masthead of l'Unità with Mafai, Guttuso and Afro. In the 1950s he traveled to the Vercelli plain, then to Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands, where he sought new inspirations. In 1953 he won the Marzotto Prize.
