Fox in the Henhouse, 17th Century  Translated
Description:
This fox in the henhouse, oil on canvas, 105 x 156 cm without frame and 135 x 185 cm with frame, was clearly painted by Angelo Maria Crivelli (Milan 1660 - 1730) known as il Crivellone; a painter from the Milanese school who was also very active in Piedmont thanks to the Savoy family. The theme in question was very popular at the time and he also developed it vertically, as can be noted in some of his works at the Castello Sforzesco; here the defense of the henhouse during the day is entrusted to a dog who angrily stands against the fox, a hen also defends the henhouse while the chicks are scattered here and there unaware of the danger. This canvas painted at the end of the 17th century is imbued with the great artistic qualities of the painter who was a great exponent of this trend at the time and is being rediscovered in recent years. The paintings and art objects published here are my exclusive property and consequently are always available to be viewed in person, by appointment, at my exhibition locations in Sanremo and Brescia. The work, like every object of ours, is sold accompanied by a FIMA photographic certificate of authenticity and lawful origin; this document identifies the object, adding value to the article. We personally handle and organize the packaging and shipping of works of art with insurance worldwide. Dr. Riccardo Moneghini Art Historian  Translated
