18th-Century Bishop Portrait  Translated
Description:
Oil on panel painting measuring 40 x 30 cm without frame and 48 x 38 with frame depicting a high-ranking bishop from the Venetian school of the first half of the 18th century. A very curious and refined painting representing an important religious figure of the time; the colors of the robe and stole around the neck are very delicate, mirroring the colors of the background, against which this figure stands out, denoting humanity, goodness, and a sense of loyalty following the most intimate dictates of the Christian religion. The small table with its bright green cloth and well-drawn and colored objects on top is also interesting, most likely bearing some symbolic value. The well-tapered hands, together with the kind and at the same time serious gaze, are also characteristics of this important figure. The beauty of Venetian painting is noteworthy; even when the dimensions are small, the colors manage to express themselves strongly, giving us a sense of peace and harmony, creating a true connection between the character represented here and the viewer. The paintings and works of art published here are my exclusive property and consequently are always available to be viewed in person, by appointment, in my exhibition venues located in Sanremo and Brescia. The work, like all our objects, is sold accompanied by a FIMA photographic certificate of authenticity and lawful origin; this document identifies the object, adding value to the article. We personally handle and organize the packaging and shipping of artwork with insurance worldwide. Dr. Riccardo Moneghini Art Historian  Translated
