Description:
Vienna 1815 approx. Elegant Biedermeier sofa from the early period, intact, veneered in flamed and burr light walnut with ebonized details. Circles of cabinetmakers close to Joseph Danhauser. In practically intact condition, consolidated and with shellac finish applied with museum standard tampon technique on the original patina. Patina and signs of use corresponding to the antiquity. Dimensions: 112 x 97 height x 58 depth cm. Seat height cm. 52. In the photo at the foot of the page is an original drawing by the great cabinetmaker Joseph Danhauser for a similar sofa (Vienna, collection of original drawings of the Museum of Applied Arts of Vienna). A design that "wins time" with its sober and elegant line, also excellent for combining with high-end modern for a unique, exclusive and refined elegance. The warm golden amber color of the antique light walnut patina with real shellac tampon finish. Joseph Ulrich Danhauser, a great Viennese cabinetmaker and designer, documented his range of products in a vast drawn catalogue, parts of which (approx. 2,500) have survived the times and are now kept in the MAK (Austrian Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna). This catalogue includes, among others, 153 chair models, 56 sofas, 179 types of chandeliers and 124 curtains. All these models were numbered consecutively. He boasted a high-ranking clientele from all over the Austrian monarchy and Germany. The outer fabric can be replaced with another desired one upon request.
