Description:
Rare Viennese classicism commode with elaborate and masterful inlays using the Certosina technique. Vienna circa 1770. Viennese classicism commode, with figurative inlays of admirable quality, made using the Certosina technique on solid oak, with various woods such as walnut, burr walnut, cherry, plum, pear, maple, and dyed maple, typical of the provenance. It is a decidedly rare and unusual piece of furniture. Vienna, classicism period, circa 1770. The work, which measures depth 125, width 64, height 89, is in practically intact wooden condition, with a shellac finish applied with a pad using museum-standard technique on the intact original patina. Luminous and refined work of high antique cabinetmaking, also excellent for combining with high-end modern furnishings. With the warm honey-golden-amber color of the original patina and masterful shellac finish. More beautiful in person than in photos. We apologize for the poor quality of the photos, which will obviously be supplemented upon request.
