Exceptional Viennese First Empire chairs, Vienna circa 1810, in intact condition.
Description:
Extraordinary pair of museum-quality Viennese First Empire chairs with lyre-shaped backs. Works with incredibly modern lines, at the pinnacle of Viennese First Empire high cabinetmaking. Possibly the most beautiful Viennese Empire style chairs in existence, when compared to those known in public galleries or published in texts on the subject. They are veneered in mahogany and mahogany feather in two different combined shades, with delicate inlays and ebony wood threads. Motifs of rosette and embossed brass palmettes. The works are in integrity conditions with shellac finish applied with a pad on first patina with museum standard technique. The upholstery is original covered with elegant Jaquart fabric in Pompeian green with rosette motifs. Vienna 1810 c.a, possibly Johann Ertl, court cabinetmaker. Published in the catalog of the Ghota biennial exhibition in Parma, November 2018. Magnificent works with a design that "wins time" with a sober and elegant line, also excellent for combining with high-end modern furniture. With the warm tone of the antique patina with a real shellac finish applied with a pad.
