Antique ebonized oval frame (cm.34; h.41) with curved and blown glass, made during the Napoleon III period with, inside, a kaolin bas-relief depicting the Adoration of the Magi (cm.22; h.30) signed by the unknown sculptor Giuseppe Serafini 1888, about whom no further information is available: click here to go to the page of the Catalogue of Cultural Heritage. In the center is the Madonna sitting with the Child standing on her knees: behind her we find Saint Joseph while on the left the three Magi are depicted. On the right there is a female figure kneeling with chained arms looking towards the Child: it could be Mary Magdalene. Behind the female figure you can glimpse another figure with a child. In the background the facade of a church and vegetal elements, on the left three other figures. At the bottom a putto holds a crown of thorns. The painting from which the Adoration of the Magi was taken was executed by Filippino Lippi in 1496 and is kept in Florence in the Uffizi Gallery. The ebonized frame is 5.5 cm wide: at the bottom, centrally to the left of the angel, the signature G.Serafini. It is in perfect condition.
