Pair of gilded bronze sconces, France, late 19th century, Regency style
Description:
Pair of gilded bronze sconces, France, late 19th century, Regency style Measurements: cm H 51 x W 45 x D 29 Price: private negotiation Object accompanied by a certificate of authenticity This delightful pair of gilded bronze sconces was made in France around the late 19th century in the Regency style. Finely chiseled, they consist of a central part topped with a lambrequin frieze adorned with leafy elements, volutes, and phytomorphic elements that fall on the sides. In the center is a female head with hair adorned with pearls and framed by volutes and spirals and two large leaves. In the lower part, from a beaded ring, some acanthus leaves descend, enclosed in bunches. Above the female head, three wavy arms start, on which anthropomorphic figures are grafted and from which the important drip pans originate, richly chiseled with vegetal ornaments and geometric motifs. The gilding is made of matte gold and polished gold, finished with agate stone. These sconces, which are very refined, are very decorative thanks to the richness of the ornaments and the brightness conferred by the gilding. They are suitable in various environments, both contextualized between antique and modern furnishings, where they will bring warmth and preciousness.
